saya rasa topik ni harus berada di filosofi punye area. membaca buku rasanya takkan sama membaca artikel dari internet. kalau baca pon kena print kot baru syok. nak tande, nak 'quote'... nak refer dan banyak lagi. betul tak wahai kengkawan yang rajin membaca? aku pon baru je rasa membaca ni gile penting.

actually, if you notice the abstract, you will note that the thing about this hybrid library is that the normal typology of a library is becoming extinct. people are moving on. the only library that are active are the national library (because of the extensive amount of books) and also libraries in the local universities (because it's like, so uncool not to hangout there)

so the thing about the library of the future is that, it does not serve the purpose of housing books only. it is the centre of information, be it in printed form (archives, books, printed matter etc) or virtual informations (internet, CD etc). the author noticed that there may never come a time where people would only need to sit infront of a PC and browse for detailed information, hence, he created, the hybrid library.

why does he think so? because why publish information for free when you can get people to buy it through printed form? so books, wether u like it or not, are here to stay probably for the next 50years or so.

for the question of why is it here, instead of under philosophy, because the thesis itself was not looking into any philosophies or theories. it applies simple logic of what the future may seem, and his architecture, was to house this hybrid library according to the tropical climate.

yet, his main concern was never tropical, only how to manage and build a hybrid library in a tropical country,

hope this clarifies things.

Cool. If you continue to make tweaks or additions to this, you may want to create your own dev thread for it. For now, I will point the Library link to your post.
